Chelsea Residence
This transformation of three apartment units reimagines a series of clumsily divided, cavernous spaces into a cohesive and expansive home for a young family, creating an open, bright, and serene urban retreat. By taking advantage of the length of the three adjacent apartments, an expansive living area over sixty feet long was created, featuring continuous west-facing windows and cabinetry that seamlessly unifies the space.
Bathrooms were designed with a minimalistic approach, incorporating large-format light colored tiles and warm oak built-ins to maintain a cohesive aesthetic throughout.
Strategically lowered ceilings define different program areas or transitions between spaces, emphasizing the contrast between larger living spaces and more intimate zones, such at the entry foyer, work areas, or the breakfast nook. Thoughtfully placed lighting and bespoke cabinetry enhance the intimacy of these smaller spaces, ensuring a harmonious balance within the home.
